Third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue has a national player in its ranks. Jonah Fabisch received an invitation from the Zimbabwe Football Association to a training course including international matches in Morocco. In preparation for the Africa Cup, the team will play Burkina Faso on June 6 and Niger on June 10. The 23-year-old native of Kenya is a Zimbabwean citizen.
Fabisch moved to Aue from 1. FC Magdeburg in the summer of 2024, but only made the breakthrough to become a regular under coach Jens Härtel, who was appointed at the turn of the year. He played 22 games for the Veilchen in his first season in the third division. He will forgo his vacation due to the call-up. He is expected back in Aue for the start of training on June 20.
