After defeats in the Champions League, the Dresden SC women's volleyball team held their own in the first Bundesliga match of the year in Wiesbaden, winning in quick succession.

The Dresden SC volleyball players have successfully mastered their first compulsory task in the new year in the Bundesliga. Alexander Waibl's team clearly won 3:0 (25:15, 25:15, 25:17) at VC Wiesbaden.

The team from the city on the Elbe, who had recently suffered two defeats in the Champions League at the hands of the top teams in Ankara and Conegliano, completed their first Bundesliga appearance of the new year in commanding style from the outset. The German runners-up and Super Cup winners were clearly superior to the Hessians in all respects in front of 1,367 spectators.

The decisive factor was above all the greater penetration in attack and better blocking and court defense by the favorites. Miku Akimoto converted the first match point after just 58 minutes. The Japanese player played a strong game, proved to be the most successful scorer with 15 points and was subsequently awarded the MVP medal as the most valuable DSC player.
