The women's handball club Thüringer HC missed out on its sixth successive win in the German league. The team of Head Coach Herbert Müller lost 23:26 (14:13) to the new league leaders HSG Blomberg-Lippe in front of a home crowd on Wednesday evening. In front of 1,035 spectators, Johanna Reichert was once again the best scorer for THC, which remains fourth with 17:9 points, with eight goals.
The top game was initially characterized by great nervousness. However, the Thuringians were able to rely on their strong goalkeeper Laura Kuske and led 4:2 after nine minutes. After that, both teams stepped up the pace, but made a high number of mistakes.
The THC managed to open up a 12:8 gap (23rd minute), but the visitors then grew stronger and stronger. They stifled the Thuringians' flow of play with their physical defense and took the lead for the first time ever in the 52nd minute through Nuria Bucher (22:21). The home side lacked the energy in the final spell to turn the game around.
