Saxon Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) welcomes the tightening of migration policy initiated by the federal government. "In order to limit irregular migration, I demanded a broad package of measures from the very beginning, which also included stopping family reunification for people with subsidiary protection," explained Schuster in Dresden. This important building block for a noticeable change in migration policy is finally being implemented.
The initiative by Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), in conjunction with other measures such as increased border controls with rejections or the halt to admission programs, will bring the urgently needed relief to local authorities, Schuster emphasized.
According to the federal government's decision, certain refugees will no longer have the opportunity to bring close relatives to Germany. The cabinet is also withdrawing the accelerated naturalization for particularly well-integrated immigrants after three years. Both plans require the approval of the Bundestag.
