RB Leipzig hoped for supernatural help for the late equalizer and Bayern Munich's spoiled championship party. "At 3:2 I stood there and asked, where are you soccer god? He then looked down again briefly and gave us the 3:3," said RB coach Zsolt Löw. "That was super important for us. We invested a lot, ran 123 kilometers. That's three more than Bayern."
Yussuf Poulsen's goal in stoppage time (90.+5) saved Leipzig a point and Bayern are not yet early champions. However, if their closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen win in Freiburg on Sunday, the record champions will have a six-point lead with two matchdays to go and a significantly better goal difference. "We're very close," said coach Vincent Kompany.
Leipzig had already led 2-0 thanks to goals from Benjamin Sesko and Lukas Klostermann. Eric Dier and Michael Olise equalized within a minute in the second half before Leroy Sané made it 3-2 shortly before the end. And then came Poulsen. "I'm very proud of my team for believing until the last minute," said Löw.
