The crisis in the automotive industry has claimed another victim with the Franconian supplier Plastic Manufacturing. The company's German companies have filed for insolvency, as the provisional insolvency administrator Volker Böhm from the law firm Schultze & Braun explains. These include the main site in Diepersdorf near Nuremberg with around 830 employees as well as companies in Oberlungwitz in Saxony with around 95 employees and Lüdenscheid in North Rhine-Westphalia with around 120 employees.
The company is currently gaining an overview and will secure and stabilize business operations wherever possible, said Böhm. Wages and salaries are secured for the next two months through the insolvency substitute benefits. "This will give us the breathing space we need to continue operations and examine the restructuring options."
Key grilles and steering wheel covers
Plastic Manufacturing produces, among other things, plastic radiator grilles, mirror flaps and steering wheel covers. According to Böhm, its customers include well-known car manufacturers. He wants to talk to them as well as to the suppliers.
The insolvency administrator said that Plastic Manufacturing, like the entire industry, is under severe economic pressure. Due to falling car sales in Europe, turnover had also shrunk, while the cost of raw materials and energy had increased.
