A famous ring from Leipzig is on display in a Luther exhibition in Wittenberg. There are now new research findings on the so-called Ring of Katharina von Bora.

A ring from the Leipzig City History Museum in Wittenberg is being exhibited to mark the 500th anniversary of the wedding of reformer Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora. The golden piece of jewelry with a ruby is on display in the exhibition "Literally Luther. Facets of a Reformer" exhibition, according to the Leipzig museum. The show can be seen from May 27 to August 10 at the Augusteum Wittenberg.

In the past, the ring was thought to be Katharina von Bora's wedding ring. In fact, the date of the wedding, June 13, 1525, is engraved on it. However, according to the museum, new analyses also allow a different conclusion: there is more evidence to suggest that it is Luther's ring. It was demonstrably given to him by the deposed Danish King Christian II.
