This time, the most famous classical music festival in eastern Germany was all about love. The organizers of the Dresden Music Festival struck a chord with the audience - once again.

With its motto "Love", the Dresden Music Festival has once again met the public's taste. According to the artistic director, 65,000 people attended the 58 events in four weeks - as in the previous year. With ticket revenues of around two million euros, the festival continued the success of previous years. The average occupancy rate was 95 percent, with significantly more tickets being sold at the box office this time.

"An outstanding year," said Artistic Director Jan Vogler before the closing event on Saturday with the performance of Richard Wagner's "Siegfried" in historical practice under the direction of Kent Nagano. The interplay of first-class artists, a wonderful audience and the variety of venues and musical genres is unique in Dresden.

Celebrities from the music scene ranging from classical to pop and film

Cellist Vogler has been constantly expanding the musical spectrum of the festival, which was founded in 1978, since 2009 and has once again attracted new audiences. In addition to renowned orchestras and classical soloists, pop singer Ronan Keating, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, Max Herre & Joy Denalane, there was fado from Portugal as well as jazz and evenings with actors such as Lars Eidinger, Martina Gedeck and Annett Renneberg.

With a concert by the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko, there will be a follow-up to the 2025 edition on September 20. The 49th Dresden Music Festival will take place from May 14 to June 14, 2026.
