The Saxon Left Party is drawing new confidence from the strong growth in membership in recent months. After a closed meeting of the state executive committee with members of the state parliament and the Bundestag, the party leadership expressed its eagerness to attack. "As a united, militant and socialist party, we will ensure that Saxony is once again about the people - not the corporations," it said in a statement.
"Red town halls" and a stronger presence in the municipalities
The party stands for redistribution from top to bottom, social security, good wages, affordable rents, solidarity-based healthcare and a state that functions at all levels, it continued. In order to achieve their goals, the Left Party wants to expand its presence in the municipalities under the slogan "Red Town Halls". The focus is particularly on Leipzig, where the party is fielding Skadi Jennicke as a candidate for the position of city leader in spring 2027.
