Magdeburg coach Titz flirting with departure

It was already indicated immediately after the end of the season, but now there is movement in the personnel situation surrounding coach Christian Titz of second-division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg. The style of play he has helped to shape, with direct passing, depth and pace, has aroused the interest of other clubs. The 54-year-old could therefore leave the traditional club prematurely despite his contract.

"Christian has a contract, but when situations arise, you also have to talk," explained sporting director Otmar Schork recently. Now comes the next step: "He can imagine making a change. He would like to review himself over the next few days. We will give him this time to think about it," explained Schork after a media meeting with "Bild", adding: "We will now take a few days off. It is clear that a final decision must be made. But there is no date for that."

Titz complained about the training conditions

After all, the training conditions are much better elsewhere. After many disputes and discussions, the city council in Magdeburg decided at the end of April to give the club a long-term rental contract with independent responsibility for financing renovation measures so that the training pitch can be equipped with turf heating and a drainage system.

It was not until the victorious Cologne match in mid-February, when Titz completed the final training session indoors due to the unplayability of the frozen and snow-covered training pitch, that a rethink was triggered in the club's environment.
