Saxony's Economics Minister Martin Dulig is reviving a tradition from election campaign times. In this super election year, the SPD politician is once again inviting people to his kitchen table for a chat. "At the kitchen table, it's all about the big and small questions about politics, but also about what really matters to you locally. My kitchen table is my invitation to talk to me about where the shoe pinches," he said on Friday, inviting citizens to join the conversation. Next Thursday, Dulig plans to set up shop at the Hotel Goldener Anker in Radebeul (Meißen district) to kick off his kitchen table tour.
The kitchen table is actually an old piece of furniture from Dulig's family. He first used it for dialog during the 2014 election campaign. He also traveled with the table at the height of the refugee crisis. Since then, it has been used more than 70 times. A new state parliament will be elected in Saxony on September 1. On June 9, local elections will also be held in the state alongside the European elections.
