Assan Ouédraogo has barely had a perfect week in soccer and is already out for longer due to injury. The 19-year-old has suffered a tendon injury in the back of his left knee, his club RB Leipzig announced. The young international, who scored on his debut in a DFB shirt and then scored a dream goal against Werder Bremen, will therefore miss the Bundesliga runners-up for the time being.
Yan Diomande, who had been playing strongly of late, also suffered injuries. The attacking player suffered a broken nose and, according to RB, will "train and play with an adapted mask depending on the healing process".
Ouédraogo had scored his first international goal as a DFB debutant the previous week in a 6-0 win for the German national team in the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. He then scored with a Sunday shot straight into the corner for an important lead in the 2:0 win against Bremen. "I'd say it was more or less a perfect week: first the goal for the national team and now scoring again - it doesn't get any better than that," said Leipzig's young international, who had already bandaged his knee after the game.
