RB Leipzig cannot win against VfL Wolfsburg. Coach Jonas Stephan's team were again beaten 3-1 (1-2) in their fifth competitive match. Cora Zicai (14) and Kessya Bussy (27) scored before the break for the Wolves, who were without their two injured goalscorers Alexandra Popp and Lineth Beerensteyn. Delice Boboy (42) tied the scores with her first RB goal. It was only in the closing stages that Svenja Huth (84) made it 3:1.
After the unfortunate cup defeat in a penalty shoot-out against Werder Bremen, Leipzig were under constant pressure against the second-placed team in the table. VfL's high pressing gave the RB women no respite. The goals they conceded were inevitable. Leipzig tried to hold out and managed to do so with some good moves, one of which led to a goal through Boboy.
After the break, there were astonished faces at VfL at the Leipzig women's improved performance. The RB women played well going forward and created numerous opportunities. VfL goalkeeper Stina Johannes repeatedly had to put her skills to the test with shots and headers from Boboy (56'), Lisa Baum (57', 66', 72') and Andrea Norheim (62'). The hosts ran out of time, especially after Victoria Krug deflected a harmless shot from Huth so that it ended up in the Leipzig goal. After that, the game was decided and RB must continue to wait for a win against Wolfsburg.
