There are 16 different specialist procedures for building applications alone in the Free State. The state government wants to streamline this. This is the timetable.

The reduction in bureaucracy promised by the state government is set to get underway next year. A reform commission is to present a report in spring 2026 and then a decision will have to be made on which projects to start immediately, State Chancellery Head Andreas Handschuh told the Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper and the Sächsische Zeitung newspaper. "Fewer forms, more digitalization and shorter processing times - that is a central goal."

He expects that the citizens of the Free State will notice the changes. The quality of service will improve and building applications will become easier. "It is unacceptable that we still have 16 different specialist procedures for building permits in Saxony." The Council for the Review of Legal Norms recently attested to the "sluggishness and inflexibility of the system" when it comes to bureaucracy.
