Municipalities with a population of 5,000 or more and transport companies can apply for funding for special sustainable mobility projects. Emission-free bus fleets, digital platforms and car-sharing hubs are all possible, said Saxony's Infrastructure Minister Regina Kraushaar (CDU) in a press release.
Funding will be provided for the expansion of mobility points, the establishment of bicycle rental systems, projects for the introduction of automated driving in public transport and measures to increase safety in public transport areas.
According to the ministry, a total of 268 million euros will be available for this from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Just Transition Fund (JTF) until 2027. The projects are generally supported with a funding rate of 75 percent, with transport development plans even receiving 90 percent of the eligible expenditure.
