The AfD parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament stands by its rejection of the consultation mechanism with the minority government of the CDU and SPD. The mechanism only serves to "take into account the special wishes of the Greens and the Left in backroom deals", said parliamentary group spokesperson Felix Menzel in Dresden. The AfD prefers the usual parliamentary procedure with consultations, expert hearings and work in the committees. In order to find the best solutions for Saxony, all votes in the state parliament must be about the matter at hand and not about firewalls.
AfD insists on "migration turnaround"
Party and parliamentary group leader Jörg Urban called for a "migration turnaround" with a stop to the admission of migrants. The North African states should be declared safe countries of origin. Furthermore, a nationwide work obligation for migrants is necessary. Home leave for Ukrainian refugees should no longer be tolerated. Anyone who comes to Germany for protection and then goes on vacation in their home country should lose their protection status. Urban also called for "knife violence" to be punished more severely.
AfD proposes merging ministries
With a view to reducing bureaucracy, Urban primarily proposed cutting jobs and merging ministries. For example, the Ministries of Culture and Science could be merged. The same would apply to the ministries of economy and infrastructure. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism could be integrated into others. The AfD rejects a possible integration of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution into the Ministry of the Interior, as this would tend to increase the "political proximity". The Office for the Protection of the Constitution must focus on political violence.
Need for action in public broadcasting
The AfD also sees a need for action in public broadcasting.
"We also have state elections in Saxony-Anhalt this year. We want to win there, we want to govern there and that also means that the Interstate Broadcasting Treaty will not be extended there and that we have to enter into negotiations." They are aiming for a single government in Saxony-Anhalt.
AfD wants to continue to defend itself against being classified as "right-wing extremist"
According to Urban, the Saxon state association wants to continue to defend itself against being classified as a right-wing extremist movement. The party is not indifferent to this. The party will file another lawsuit against the current constitution protection report. The allegations compiled by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are not suitable for inferring right-wing extremism from them.
