The 21st edition of the Neisse Film Festival (May 14 to 16) also offers insights into the regions. A program entitled "Sorbian Landscapes" spans the history of the Slavic minority living in Lusatia and their traditions to the young Sorbian community in the present, as the festival organizers announced on Monday. The role of the Sorbs in the German film industry, identity and stereotypes will also be discussed and an insight into Sorbian film practice will be provided. According to the announcement, other events will look at the period after the Second World War in neighboring Poland and the Jewish history of Görlitz.

The Neisse Film Festival has been presenting current feature films, documentaries and short films in the three-country region between Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland every May since 2004. According to the organizers, this time around 90 films will be screened in 19 cinemas and venues, selected from more than 900 submissions. In addition to three competitions and various film series, the program includes concerts, exhibitions, readings and parties.
