Dynamo Dresden not yet complete at the start of training

Without director Niklas Hauptmann, but with Alexander Rossipal as the only new signing so far, promoted second division side Dynamo Dresden have started their pre-season preparations. Coach Thomas Stamm gathered 13 professionals and four young players at the grounds of TSV Cossebaude in midsummer conditions.

In addition to Hauptmann, who underwent hip surgery, Claudio Kammerknecht, whose vacation was extended due to his international duty for Sri Lanka, and Dennis Duah, who may leave the club, were also absent from the session. Jakob Lemmer was also not yet fit following an operation.

Squad not yet complete

The squad for the season is not yet complete. In addition to Rossipal, who joined from FC Hansa Rostock, Dynamo have only signed prospect player Marlon Fass from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim U19. Further players for all parts of the team are set to arrive. "We're trying to complete the squad in the next few weeks," said sporting director Thomas Brendel, adding: "The Bundesliga starts later due to the Club World Cup, so the door for one or two transfers may not open until later. The transfers we make should be correct and well-considered. That's why we don't let ourselves drift."

The Bundesliga 2 season kicks off on the weekend of August 1-3. Dynamo will start with an away game, as the finals with 20 German championships will be held in Dresden on the same weekend. The fixture list for the new season will be published by the German Football League (DFL) next Friday (June 27).
