Since the partial collapse of Dresden's Carola Bridge, structures of a similar nature have been the focus of particular attention. For this reason, the Agra Bridge in the south of Leipzig will be extensively inspected from November 7, as announced by the State Office for Road Construction and Transport. During the measures, which are scheduled to last until November 17, traffic will be diverted past the construction site in one lane.
Hennigsdorf prestressing steel was used on both bridges. With this type of construction, there is a risk of damage due to corrosion in the prestressing steel, which can lead to failure under certain conditions. On the Agra Bridge, the road surface is therefore opened up to expose the underlying concrete above the supports. Samples of the tendons, mortar and concrete will be examined in the laboratory. The results are expected by the end of the year.
