Olympic bobsleigh champion Mariama Jamanka is to become a TV presenter. The 33-year-old Berlin native, who ended her competitive sports career after winning the silver medal in Beijing 2022 together with Alexandra Burghardt in the two-man bobsled, will take over the sports block in ARD's midday magazine. As MDR announced on its website on Monday, Tino Böttcher will host the ARD Mittagsmagazin from January 2024. Jamanka will then present the sports in the program. The "Bild" had first reported on it.

The Jamanka starting for the BRC Thuringia had provided 2018 in Pyeongchang for a fistful surprise, when she won Olympic gold in Bob Germany II together with Anschieberin Lisa Buckwitz. Jamanka also won the world championship title in two-man bobsleigh with Annika Drazek in Whistler in 2019.
