The boss quake at second-division soccer club Dynamo Dresden continues. After communications director David Fischer had to leave in June, the time of sports director Thomas Brendel has now also come to an early end. One week before the general meeting, the supervisory board released the 49-year-old from his duties.
"In recent weeks, we as a board have increasingly noticed that there have been major disagreements and differences in the management of the club, which have become more and more pronounced. As a result of this and in view of the sporting situation, we lack confidence that we can achieve the goals we have set ourselves with Thomas Brendel as sporting director. With the winter transfer period to be planned and the preparations for the new season, the decision at this point in time was unavoidable for us," said Dynamo's Supervisory Board Chairman Jens Heinig in a press release.
Replacement has top priority
An interim solution for the position has been secured and the club is therefore still fully capable of acting. The club will provide separate information on the interim appointment in the coming days. The succession is a top priority.
Thomas Brendel took up his position at the sports club on June 1, 2024 and was jointly responsible for the 2024/25 season, in which Dresden were promoted to Bundesliga 2. In the current season, the Saxons are 17th in the table after twelve match days.
