FC Bayern's quarter-final match against RB Leipzig will be affected by a local transport strike. This not only applies to spectators. The teams also have to adjust their schedules.

Vincent Kompany is also reacting to the public transport strike. The FC Bayern coach announced that the team bus would make its way to Munich's Allianz Arena earlier for the cup quarter-final against RB Leipzig on Wednesday (20:45/ARD and Sky).

"We will certainly drive to the stadium earlier," said Kompany. "The most important thing, of course, is that everyone arrives healthy and well for the game," he said with a view to the 75,000 soccer supporters, whom he would like to reward for the greater effort. "I hope that the performance is then also there for our fans who make the effort to come to the stadium."

Special subway service and more buses

The Verdi trade union has called for a day-long warning strike on local transport in Munich and elsewhere on match day. This will make traveling to the arena more difficult. Many spectators will be using public transport.

The Munich transport company MVG will be setting up a special subway service in the evening on the day of the strike. In addition, the usual bus transfer from the Donnersberger Brücke S-Bahn station will be increased. Furthermore, additional shuttle buses will be operated from the parking lot of the FC Bayern Campus, which is only two kilometers away from the Allianz Arena.

Company on the third Leipzig meeting: "A must-play game"

Despite all efforts, there will be restrictions on arrivals and departures, FC Bayern warned. The club is appealing to all fans to allow more time and, if traveling by car, to plan to carpool if possible.

According to Kompany, opponents Leipzig will also have to make their way to the stadium earlier than originally planned. The two teams have already met twice this season. Munich won 6:0 and 5:1 in the Bundesliga and are now aiming to reach the semi-finals. "The game is at home, it's a must-win game. We want to show what we can do," said Kompany.

The coach did not want to categorize the importance of the DFB Cup compared to the Bundesliga or Champions League: "It's always difficult for me to classify: What is one, two or three?" The last time the record winners reached the cup final was in 2020.
