FC Bayern will host RB Leipzig in the cup quarter-finals on Wednesday. Due to an announced strike in local transportation, arrival and departure will be a problem. A decision is to be made on Monday.

FC Bayern is worried about the DFB Cup match against RB Leipzig in Munich due to the announced warning strike on public transport. The club did not rule out postponement on Sunday evening after the 5:1 win against TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

"We haven't made the decision yet. We will discuss it tomorrow. And if we believe that the match is feasible, which we all assume, then of course we will go ahead with it because the replacement options are also very limited," said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

The trade union Verdi has called for an all-day local transport warning strike in Munich and elsewhere on match day. The DFB quarter-final match is scheduled for the evening (8.45 pm) in the Munich Arena. "Wednesday is a special situation," said Dreesen.

There had been a meeting with the Munich transport company, the police and other authorities, reported the FC Bayern CEO. "We will have to see how we organize this. We will talk to each other again tomorrow and will also announce tomorrow during the course of the day whether and how we are in a position to do so," said Dreesen.

Challenges with arrivals and departures

The MVG is reportedly examining how large numbers of soccer fans can get to the Allianz Arena without the subway. The stadium may also be connected to a limited extent by buses, a spokesperson said. There is space for 75,000 spectators in the stadium.

Dreesen pointed out the challenges involved in getting to and, above all, from the stadium. There is no real solution, he said. There is no other way to get 30,000 people arriving by public transport to the stadium. Even if a correspondingly large number of buses could be procured, they would need "incredible space".

The match between FC Bayern and RB Leipzig will be broadcast live on TV by Sky and ARD. The broadcasters have firmly scheduled the match in their programs.
