An Icelandic pony has been rescued by the fire department in Dresden after falling out of a narrow ditch. The animal was unable to move forwards or backwards under its own power in the afternoon and was up to its neck in the ditch, the emergency services reported.
The fire department managed to rescue the horse by building a ramp in the ditch and using the remaining excavated material. With the help of the owner, they finally managed to gently get the animal moving and lead it out of the ditch via the ramp. 23 people were deployed to rescue the pony. It remains unclear how it got into its predicament in the first place.
