After his exit from Leipzig, FC Bayern and Liverpool FC are said to be interested in Max Eberl. As the "Bild" reported on Friday, the English Premier League club of coach Jürgen Klopp is dealing with the ex-sport director of the Saxon Bundesliga soccer club. At the Reds, this position is held by former Wolfsburg manager Joerg Schmadtke. The 59-year-old had taken up his job on June 1, 2023, but by his own admission had only signed a one-year contract. Accordingly, the position could become free in the coming year.
According to "Bild", there has also been loose contact between Eberl and Liverpool boss Billy Hogan (43), when both are said to have talked noncommittally in May 2022 on the sidelines of the Europa League semifinal between Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers.
Leipzig had separated from Eberl (50) at the end of September after not even a year: from the point of view of the RB bosses, the reason was the lack of commitment from Eberl to Leipzig. So far, the former Gladbach manager has been linked with a possible move to FC Bayern Munich. According to dpa information, the Saxons are demanding around five million euros should Eberl want to work for a new club. RB and Eberl have agreed on this.
