The arched bridge in the Halsbrück district of Falkenberg will be permanently closed to traffic from Monday. The parapet was severely damaged in an accident four weeks ago and partially collapsed, according to the Central Saxony District Office.
After an inspection, it was recommended that the listed bridge from the 16th century be closed completely. The structure is already only accessible to a limited extent. Traffic is being rerouted.
The damage is to be repaired during planned repairs. The work should begin in the summer and last until the end of the year. The building authorities hope to be able to start the work sooner.
