The funicular railroad in Dresden, which is popular with tourists, will not be in operation for almost two months from today (Monday, April 8). According to the Dresden Transport Authority (DVB), the reason for this is the main inspection of the funicular, which is only carried out every ten years. If all goes well, the train will resume operations on June 1. A replacement service has been set up to replace the journey from Dresden's Loschwitz district to the Weißer Hirsch district. In-depth inspections of the carriages and the traction engine will be carried out and five old sleepers will be replaced.
