The RB Leipzig women's soccer team can no longer win. The 2:3 (0:1) on the last matchday of the first half of the season was their fifth defeat in a row. Valesca Ampoorter had put Hoffenheim ahead after 25 minutes. Emilia Asgeirsdottir (56) equalized the score. Laura Gloning (63) put the visitors back in front, but Gina Chmielinski (64) equalized on the counter-attack. International Selina Cerci (80) scored the winner for the visitors, who defended their fourth place in the table. RB are in tenth place.
The visitors were clearly the better team for one half. RB were forced into defending and barely managed to relieve pressure going forward. The only reason for the narrow deficit at the break was the fact that Hoffenheim were almost criminal with the chances they created. Leipzig, on the other hand, hardly had any attacking action.
That changed after the break. RB became more active and more pressing. Although TSG missed a huge chance to make it 2-0 just before the 1:1 equalizer, Asgeirsdottir's goal was not undeserved. And RB showed morale. They did not allow themselves to be impressed by falling behind again, but immediately made it 2:2. After Cerci made it 2:3 with a header, Leipzig had nothing more to add, although Delice Boboy two minutes before the final whistle and Asgeirsdottir in stoppage time missed great opportunities to equalize.
