The Niners Chemnitz basketball team has suffered its fourth successive defeat in the German league. The team of Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore suffered a clear 67:86 (32:42) defeat at home to the Würzburg Baskets. Corey Davis Jr. and Kevin Yebo were the Niners' best scorers in front of 4,436 spectators with 20 points apiece.
Chemnitz quickly trailed by 0:6 and revealed major problems with the visitors' quick transition play, which gave them a comfortable 27:13 lead by the end of the first quarter. The home side then improved considerably in defense and regained its accuracy from the foul line in offense. As a result, Chemnitz fought its way back to 29:33 in the 17th minute, but then let its lead slip away again.
After the break, Würzburg vehemently took control of the game. They dominated the rebounding and ran the ball much better than the unsettled Chemnitz side. The visitors pulled 65:42 ahead by the end of the third quarter. In the final period, the Niners were able to put the finishing touches to the result.
