The city of Dresden is responding to the ongoing drought with a water withdrawal ban. From this Tuesday until the end of October, no water may be taken from surface waters, as the city announced.
According to the information provided, there has been too little rainfall since the beginning of April and many streams and rivers have extremely low water levels or have even dried up in some cases. According to current weather forecasts, this cannot be compensated for by rainfall in the coming weeks either.
No water may now be extracted from surface waters using pumps until the end of October. The same applies to withdrawals with scoops. Violations can be punished as an administrative offense and punished with a fine of at least 50 euros.
