Erzgebirge Aue have won the Saxony Cup for the first time in ten years. The relegated third division side prevailed 2-0 (1-0) in the West Saxony clash against regional league side FSV Zwickau to lift the trophy at state level for the fifth time. In front of 9,686 spectators in the sold-out GGZ Stadium, Jamilu Collins (31st minute) gave the Erzgebirge side the lead before Marcel Bär (90th + 3rd) marked the final score.

Danny Röhl did not miss out on the final. The former assistant coach of RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and the DFB squad flew in directly from the island for the final after finishing third with Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish championship and kept his fingers crossed for his home club.
After all, the GGZ Arena proved to be a fortress recently. FSV had been unbeaten at home for 31 games since August 30, 2024. However, the Swans have never won the Saxon Cup. Aue last lifted the trophy in 2016 - also against Zwickau at the time.
The West Saxony clash - classified as a high-risk match due to the rival fan communities - got off to a flying start. Luca Prasse had the lead on his feet after nine minutes, but missed from close range in front of the Auer box. At the other end, FSV keeper Lucas Hiemann made a brilliant save from Erik Majetschak, who was ready to shoot (13').
