The possible establishment of an armaments company in the south of Saxony-Anhalt is being pushed forward. The city council of Sangerhausen (Mansfeld-Südharz district) instructed the mayor to hold further talks with an interested party for a large-scale settlement at a closed meeting on Thursday evening. According to a spokesperson for the town, talks are being held with an interested party for an area of up to 130 hectares. The city did not provide any details about the company or possible sectors.
According to dpa information, the company is a parts manufacturer that produces for the defense sector. The town near Thuringia has been planning a new large-scale industrial area to the west of Sangerhausen for several years. According to the development plan, this is intended to promote the economic development of the region and counter structural change in the long term.
