Captain David Raum of RB Leipzig has been nominated for the World Cup in North America. This was announced by the Bundesliga club and the DFB shortly before the official announcement of the 26-man squad.
"I'm glad that you're part of this team because you always bring an extremely positive craziness to it. You're super positive, you're always in a good mood," said national coach Julian Nagelsmann. He is worried about the joint tattoo in the event of the World Cup title because he fears he will no longer find a place with Raum.
This will be Raum's second World Cup after Qatar 2022. The 28-year-old was in the starting eleven for all three games in the preliminary round in the desert state. The left-back is also a regular in the USA and plays an important role in set-piece situations. Raum is also putting himself in the spotlight at the tournament. His contract expires next year and he reportedly has an exit clause.
