The discussion about aid for Ukraine is not being conducted objectively, says Saxony's Minister President. The CDU politician feels reminded of the heated social atmosphere during coronavirus.

Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) bemoans a growing division in society in the discussion about aid for Ukraine. "People are stigmatized if they have a different opinion, that's very, very bad," said Kretschmer in the podcast "Meine schwerste Entscheidung" (My toughest decision) by the Funke media group.

Those who have a critical position on the arms deliveries are often discredited as "Putin-understanders". Society is thus repeating a mistake that it already made during the coronavirus pandemic. The question is why we have not learned from this: "That we have to communicate, that we have to allow different opinions, that we have to make them visible," said Kretschmer.
