In light of economic uncertainties, the president of the Saxony Employers’ Association has called for an alliance for jobs, training, and competitiveness. To preserve industrial jobs, companies, policymakers, as well as unions and works councils must take action, said Jörg Brückner. He calls for a willingness to embrace change rather than clinging to the status quo. Everyone must do their part: “Politicians must implement long-overdue reforms, lower the cost of doing business, and ensure our workers take home more of their gross pay. Companies must deliver innovations, competitive products, and job security. And unions must be willing to reevaluate collective bargaining agreements in favor of securing jobs.” According to Brückner, Saxony’s industrial sector has lost around 24,000 well-paid jobs over the past three years, and more than 2,000 companies have had to file for bankruptcy. “Geopolitical uncertainties, technological upheavals, unchecked soaring costs, and increasingly fierce international competition are putting companies under massive pressure. However, pointing fingers won’t save a single job.” Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
