Faced with poor poll ratings, the Saxon Left is practising self-criticism. "We have simply been too preoccupied with ourselves over the past year and a half. That is unattractive for every voter," said the co-chairman of the Left Party Saxony, Stefan Hartmann, to the "Sächsische Zeitung" (Friday). The party must now present itself again as the party for the important issues of justice, peace and democracy.
In an Infratest dimap poll published on Thursday on behalf of MDR, the Left Party in Saxony slipped below the five-percent hurdle and must therefore fear a return to the Saxon state parliament. The party only achieved four percent in the survey. In the 2019 state election, it still managed 10.4 percent. Another state election is due to be held in Saxony on September 1.
