More photovoltaic systems were installed in Saxony in the first half of 2023 than in the entire previous year. As figures from the solar energy industry portal show, more than 22,000 systems with a total capacity of 265.2 megawatts were installed from January to July. In the entire previous year, there were therefore almost 15,500 plants with 244.6 megawatts.
Saxony's energy minister Wolfram Günther sees in the figures evidence that the energy turnaround has arrived with the citizens. "More and more people are investing in domestic solar installations. In addition, we need a stronger addition of large-scale renewable energy projects in the future to further advance the energy transition in the Free State," the Green politician stressed in response to a question on Thursday.
