The prince from the cult Christmas fairy tale movie "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" and Angelo Kelly will be at the Great Advent Concert 2023 in Dresden. "I have many fond memories of Dresden and now a new one is added," said a delighted Czech actor Pavel Trávníček, who will play host at Dynamo Dresden's soccer stadium on Dec. 21, according to organizers Thursday.

Irish-American singer Angelo Kelly, opera legend René Kollo, Czech soprano Lenka Graf and the "ice queen" of the Hamburg musical production, Sabrina Weckerlin, have been announced as soloists. The Dresdner Kreuzchor, the Dresdner Kapellknaben and, for the first time, the children's choir of the Staatsoperette will also take part.

According to the announcement, Kollo is looking forward to "interpreting classical Christmas carols with young people in the choir." He has "always had a special connection" to Dresden, the 85-year-old said. This appearance will nevertheless be a premiere: "In a stadium, I have also never sung."

After three Advent concerts canceled due to pandemic, more than 200 Herrnhut stars are to make the stadium shine again in the sixth edition. In addition, donations are traditionally collected, this time for the foundation for young footballers named after former Dynamo player Hans Jürgen "Dixie" Dörner. The event, which is now also televised, had its premiere in 2015 - back then they had swapped the altar in the Kreuzkirche for the stadium as a stage for the first time.
