RB Leipzig must play SV Sandhausen on a Saturday in the first round of the DFB Cup. This was announced by the DFB. Kick-off on August 16 is at 3:30 pm. Dynamo Dresden have to play against first division side FSV Mainz on a Monday evening. The match on August 18 in the city on the Elbe starts at 6:00 pm.
Saxony-Anhalt state cup winners Hallescher FC will play FC Augsburg with new coach Sandro Wagner on Sunday, August 17 at 6:00 pm. The Saxon state cup winners 1. FC Lok Leipzig, successor to the first German champions in 1903, will also welcome FC Schalke 04 on Sunday (3.30 pm). At the same time, the Thuringian state cup winners ZFC Meuselwitz play against second division club Karlsruher SC.
Magdeburg are the first team to start
Second-division side 1. FC Magdeburg, under new coach Markus Fiedler, must play third-division side 1. FC Saarbrücken first. The match will kick off on Friday, August 15 at 6:00 pm.
The first cup round is scheduled for August 15-18. Champions Bayern Munich and defending champions VfB Stuttgart will not enter the tournament until August 26 or 27. The cup final will take place next season on May 23, 2026 in Berlin's Olympic Stadium.
