The Pirna Sculpture Summer 2025 is dedicated to the anniversary of the town twinning with Děčin. According to the Kultur- und Tourismusgesellschaft Pirna mbH, the 12th edition of the exhibition entitled "Resonance" will bring together works by 27 artists from Germany and the Czech Republic in the former Sonnenstein Fortress. The interplay of figures, installations and interventions is intended to stimulate reflection and "make the unconscious resonate".
In the contrast of "colossal defensive architecture and filigree figurative art", positions of well-known sculptors such as Jan Hendrych or Waldemar Grzimek correspond with those of young artists in vaults and gardens. As part of the accompanying program, young people can create their own sandstone figures with chisels and mallets under the guidance of a sculptor at a workshop in Děčín in mid-June. And between June 22 and September 7, two artists will produce live portraits in clay in 25 minutes, which they will then transfer into plaster with the help of a "machine" of their own design.
