Dynamo Dresden, at the bottom of the league, took an early lead thanks to two deflected shots. Although Fürth had the better chances early on, Dynamo was more efficient.

Dynamo Dresden, currently in last place, made a strong statement in the 2. Bundesliga. Coach Thomas Stamm’s team put in a consistent and, above all, efficient performance against SpVgg Greuther Fürth, winning 3-0 (2-0). Robert Wagner (31st minute) put Dynamo ahead in front of 30,786 spectators at Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, before Ben Bobzien (41st) added to the lead before halftime.

Then Vincent Vermeij (55th minute) added to the lead against a depleted Greuther Fürth side, which had to play without Hendry Blank starting in the 62nd minute. As a result, Dynamo provisionally climbed to 14th place in the standings.

Four changes to Dynamo’s starting lineup

Stamm made four changes following the 1-2 loss in Hannover. Friedrich Müller, suspended after receiving a yellow-red card, was replaced in the back four by center back Ahmet Muhamedbegovic. Simon Straudi took Alexander Rossipal’s place on the left side. Up front, Ben Bobzien and Vincent Vermeij were given the nod over Christoph Daferner and Jacob Lemmer.

“When you don’t have enough points, you’re never satisfied. In the end, it’s all about getting the job done. We’re often only good for 60 or 70 minutes. It’s about consistency and the discipline to see it through for 90 minutes,” Stamm cautioned on Sky before kickoff.

For Dynamo, the match began with a moment of shock: Vermeij was struck in the face by Hendry Blank’s foot. After brief medical attention, play resumed. The Dresden side created some good chances, such as one by Patrice Covic (11th minute), who blasted the ball over the goal from close range.

Former Fürth player Wagner gives Dynamo the lead

The Kleeblätter made their first mark thanks to Omar Sillah (16th minute), when he dribbled past two Dresden defenders in the penalty area and forced goalkeeper Lennart Grill to make a save with his foot from a tight angle. Shortly afterward, Dynamo goalkeeper Grill prevented his team from falling behind with saves against Felix Klaus (22') and Sacha Bansé (24').

Former Fürth player Wagner (31') then scored the opening goal for Dynamo when, following a brilliant assist from Niklas Hauptmann, he found the net with a deflected shot inside the penalty area. Then Blank deflected another shot by the home team—this time by Bobzien (41st minute)—into his own net.

After the break, Vincent Vermeij (55') made it 3-0 following a precise pass from Bobzien. This time, Blank was a fraction of a second too late, slipped past the ball, and the Dresden player pushed the ball over the line behind him. Then things got even worse for the visitors, especially for Blank, who received a yellow-red card after a last-ditch tackle on Bobzien (62').
