Martin Schulz does it again. European Championship title number 12 for the German paratriathlete. And despite problems in his preparation.

Para triathlete Martin Schulz has once again won the European Championship title. The 35-year-old won the Paralympic distance of 750 meters swimming, 20 kilometers cycling and 5 kilometers running in Besançon, France. It was Schulz's twelfth European Championship triumph in total - despite calf problems in recent weeks.

Two more medals

"I'm super happy and enjoying it," said Schulz after his victory, happy that he had been able to put his experience to good use. The two-time Paralympic champion from Leipzig needed 1:02:52 hours and was just under a minute faster than Filipe Marques (1:03:43) from Portugal. Third place went to Ireland's Tom Williamson (1:05:31).

In a different starting category, Max Gelhaar took silver, as he did last year. Neele Ludwig also came second in her starting class.
