RB Leipzig's Bundesliga women's soccer team is undergoing a major squad shake-up. After Lydia Andrade, Vanessa Fudalla and Barbara Brecht, Josefine Schaller will also be leaving the club after the season. According to the club, the expiring contract will not be extended.
Schaller has played for RB's youth team since 2016 and made her adult debut at the age of 16. The now 22-year-old full-back rose with the team from the regional league to the 2nd Bundesliga and into the top flight of German women's soccer.
In total, she played 82 competitive matches for RB. A cruciate ligament injury prevented her from making any more appearances. She made her comeback in January 2025 and has since made six more Bundesliga appearances.
