The Left Criticizes Schuster: "Politics from the Day Before Yesterday"

The Left Party has criticized an Instagram post by Saxony’s Interior Minister Armin Schuster regarding the Berlin Senate election. The CDU politician had commented on the election victory with the words: “The Left Party’s success in Berlin is a slap in the face to upstanding citizens. Anyone who fails to take a clear stand against clan criminals, anti-Semites, and left-wing extremists has no business governing in Berlin!”

Schaper Accuses Schuster of Denying Reality

“I took note of Minister of State Schuster’s remarks with some irritation and searched in vain for comparable posts on the State Ministry of the Interior’s account following the AfD’s election successes in Saxony-Anhalt or Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This suggests a pronounced denial of reality on the part of the minister,” said Left Party caucus leader Susanne Schaper.

According to The Left, Schuster is pursuing “politics from yesterday”

In the words of the Left politician, Schuster hasn’t gotten the message: “It shows that some in the Union still haven’t understood where the enemy of democracy lies.” Schuster is reacting like a “mini-Merz” with “politics from yesterday,” said Schaper, referring to Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and added: “Before a Saxon interior minister comments on Berlin election results, he should do his homework in Saxony when it comes to pushing back against the far right.”
