The German champions have extended the expiring contract with their captain by one year. The Norwegian has been with the Elbe club since 2016.

Captain Christian O'Sullivan will stay with SC Magdeburg for another year. The club announced the contract extension shortly before the kick-off of the Bundesliga match against HSV Hamburg. O'Sullivan has been under contract with SCM since 2016 and, as a leading player, has played a major role in the Green-Red team's upswing in recent years.

"Christian is an incredibly important player for SC Magdeburg, both on and off the pitch. He will also help us achieve our goals in the coming season," coach Bennet Wiegert was quoted as saying on the club's website. The 33-year-old O'Sullivan said: "Magdeburg is my home and SCM has always been my first port of call."
