The Dresdner Eislöwen are pressing ahead with their personnel planning for their first season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and are strengthening their ranks with Canadian forward Lance Bouma. The experienced 35-year-old moves to the Elbe from Swedish first-division club Linköping HC and signs a one-year contract.
Bouma has played over 350 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Calgary Flames and the Chicago Blackhawks in his career. He also played 190 games in the American Hockey League (AHL) before gaining a foothold in Europe from 2019. Bouma played for Oskarshamm, Linköping HC and Malmö in the Swedish SHL and for Geneva-Servette HC in the Swiss National League.
Ice Lions sports director Matthias Roos explains: "Lance is characterized by his hard work, drive to the goal, cleverness and presence in all zones. He goes where it hurts. His experience from over 700 professional games in North America and Europe, paired with his mentality and commitment, will do our team good. He is a player who takes responsibility in every situation. He will take on a more offensive role with us than he did recently in Sweden."
After Slovakian goaltender Julius Hudacek, former NHL defenseman Justin Braun and ex-Munich native Trevor Parkes, Bouma is the fourth new addition to the Eislöwen.
