The Niners Chemnitz basketball team failed to end FC Bayern Munich's run of success. The club from Saxony lost the summit encounter at the new league leaders by 80:89 (53:39), squandering an 18-point lead in the process. World champion Isaac Bonga (18 points), Sylvain Francisco (14) and Serge Ibaka (12) played the biggest part in the home side's twelfth win in a row. Kaza Kajami-Keane (15) and Aher Uguak (14) scored the most points for the visitors.
The club from Chemnitz missed the start and trailed 12:20 after eight minutes. However, the visitors dominated the second quarter. The Niners turned a 23:26 deficit (12th minute) into a 50:35 lead by the 19th minute and stretched the gap to 68:50 by the 26th minute. The visitors were on course for victory up to 80:77 in the 37th minute. However, Munich turned the encounter around with a 12:0 run in the final three minutes. The high foul count meant that Saxony was no longer able to control its defense in the final spell. The referees penalized 28 infringements by the Niners, but only 16 by Bayern.
