Saxony evaluates school network plan for vocational schools

Saxony wants to review its existing network of vocational schools. In addition to the vocational school centers (BSZ) and their sponsors, the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs announced that the leading municipal associations, companies and responsible authorities will also be involved. The new school network plan is set to come into force for the 2027/2028 school year.

"There are attractive opportunities for vocational education in all regions of Saxony. We are focusing on dialog with all those involved in the evaluation and subsequent updating of the partial school network plan for vocational schools," explained Minister of Education Conrad Clemens (CDU). The aim is to maintain location security and at the same time enable careful further development.

In the past school year, a total of 107,114 young men and women attended a vocational school - 1,543 more than in the previous school year. According to the State Statistical Office, there are 245 publicly and privately funded vocational schools in Bavaria. Almost 6,600 teachers teach there.
