Passengers on Deutsche Bahn's Saxony-Franconia main line between Altenburg in Thuringia and Werdau in Saxony will have to change to buses. The section will be completely closed to train traffic on Saturday night due to construction work. The restrictions will remain in place until October 26. According to the railroad company, replacement bus services are running. The Sachsen-Franken-Magistrale is being extensively modernized in sections.
According to the railroad company, the construction work will result in extensive timetable changes, train cancellations and replacement services between Altenburg-Schmölln/Gößnitz-Werdau/Glauchau-Zwickau.
Which lines are affected?
The affected lines are the S 5/S 5X (Halle-Leipzig/Halle Flughafen-Leipzig-Altenburg-Zwickau), RE 1 (Göttingen-Gotha-Erfurt-Weimar-Jena-Gera-Glauchau) and the City-Bahn Chemnitz with the RB 37 line (Glauchau-Meerane-Gößnitz).
