Left parliamentary group leader Sören Pellmann has undergone several days of treatment in a clinic for heart problems and is now taking time out for a cure. This was announced by the 48-year-old MP from Leipzig on his own behalf.
"During my NRW tour last week, I had cardiological problems and had to go to a hospital in Paderborn for treatment," he said in his statement. "I left there yesterday. I am well, in good spirits and will start rehab on Monday so that I can then return to parliamentary life full of energy after a full recovery."
Pellmann has led the left-wing parliamentary group in the Bundestag with 64 MPs together with his co-chair Heidi Reichinnek since March 2025. The duo previously chaired the Left Party group.
